I
arrived in London to spend a week with my friends, Vickie and Tony.
I
had nothing in particular planned to see since I had recently been in
London
on business. So I spent several days on my own seeing the obvious
tourist
attractions before the weekend arrived.
As an aspiring Football (Soccer) fan, Tony was gracious enough to take
me
to see a top flight football match. Wimbledon vs.
Middlesbrough
in a half empty stadium. Probably because the tickets were
US$40...

One day during the week, however,
Tony took a day off of work and we traveled
to the South coast of England to the lovely city of Brighton.
It's
about as close as you can get to a beach resort in England but there is
an
aura about the town that is charming.

Tony
and I spent a few hours wandering around town, having lunch and antique
shopping. Compared to the busy streets and bustling pace of
London,
Brighton was a welcome retreat for me.
There are many shops and restaurants to choose from. The sun
seems
to shine a bit more here than in London as well making for a perfect
location
to work on your tan, have a nice lunch and buy a new shirt for an
evening
at one of London's great clubs.

As you can probably tell from the
photos, Brighton is not for the tight fisted
people. There is money oozing from every corner in an attempt to
attract
more tourists.
Tony and I had a nice time walking around town, but our hearts were
really
back in London with the English pub scene. We retreated to the
train
station for the 1 hour ride back to London with thoughts of the West
End
on our minds.

After
another fun evening out in London's extensive nightclub network, I
returned to the airport to head home a day early. During my
flight
back, I listened to one of my favorite albums by the Outfield.
Little
did I know the surprise that was in store for me.

|
|
I walked into my apartment around
8:30 that evening and my roommate was just
about ready to head out. Knowing what a big Outfield fan I am
(not
joke), he told me that they were playing at a local club that night!
Some
of my other friends were on their way to meet him at Joe's.
I couldn't resist and continued my partying ways by going to the
concert.
It was the perfect end to a great trip. I can't recommend
Stockholm
in the summer enough. It's a truly magical place.
